Bristol House Clearance Costs & Pricing Guide
How do you calculate the cost of a Bristol house clearance?
Costs are primarily based on the volume of waste (measured in cubic yards or van loads) and the labour required. Prices typically range from £50 for single items to £440–£3,000+ for large 5-bedroom houses.
Is it cheaper than hiring a skip?
In most cases, yes. Our “man and van” style service is often cheaper than a skip because you only pay for the space you use, and we handle all the heavy lifting for you.
Why are there extra charges for mattresses, fridges, tyres or upholstered seating?
Certain items are classified as hazardous or difficult to recycle. Fridges contain ozone-depleting gases, and mattresses require specialist shredding. Upholstered seating now is classified as POPs waste and is requiring to be processed as its own waste stream. Tyres also provide a fire risk and are potential toxic leading to additional “per-item” disposal fees from waste stations.
Environment Agency Licensed & Zero-to-Landfill Policy
What is your “Zero-to-Landfill” policy?
We aim to recycle or reuse up to 90–100% of what we collect. Items are sorted into three categories: Donation (to Bristol charities like British heart foundation, Sofa project, Bristol Scrapstore, St Peter’s Hospice and a large variety of locally based charity shops), Recycling (via licensed waste transfer stations), and Energy-from-Waste. We follow the Waste Hierarchy: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover.
Are you a licensed waste carrier?
Yes, we are fully Environment Agency licensed waste carriers. We provide official Waste Transfer Notes and invoices to prove your waste has been disposed of legally, protecting you from fly-tipping fines. A website widget provided by the environment agency can be found here. Waste Carrier license and Insurances
Do you have insurance?
Yes we have both employer and public liability insurance which you can find here. Waste Carrier license and Insurances
How do you handle “POPS” (Persistent Organic Pollutants)?
New UK regulations require specific handling for upholstered seating (sofas, armchairs, office chairs, foot stools, bean bags, cushions) these items cannot be mixed with general waste as they may contain fire-retardant chemicals. These must be separated and disposed of via high-temperature incineration.
Logistics & Safety
Do I need to be present at the property?
No. We frequently work with estate agents, solicitors, or key holders to complete clearances remotely. We can provide “before and after” photos via WhatsApp or email for your peace of mind.
Do you offer cleaning after the clearance?
While we don’t offer deep cleaning, we provide a ‘broom-clean’ finish as standard, ensuring the property is ready for professional cleaners to start immediately.
What items can you NOT remove?
Standard clearances generally exclude raw chemicals, petrol, firearms, or illegal substances. Always declare these during your quote to see if specialist disposal can be arranged.
